Neuropsychology in Contact Sports

There is a growing evidence base demonstrating the impact of contact sports on long-term brain health, and understandably this can cause concern for professional athletes.

Governing bodies of athletic sport are increasingly focusing on brain health and using brain imaging and neurocognitive testing to ensure professional athletes are medically fit to compete.

JC Neuropsychology provides neuropsychological assessments to:

  • assess baseline cognitive functioning for athlete’s starting out in their professional career

  • monitor cognitive functioning over time for athlete’s that may have sustained multiple head injuries or concussions. This can enable detection of early cognitive changes and neurodegeneration.

JC Neuropsychology also provides neurorehabilitation and treatment for the effective management of head injury and concussion symptoms.

JC Neuropsychology is registered with the British Board of Boxing Control and administers a standardised battery of neurocognitive tests which meets their standards.
